1. Fallen Angels (1995)

This movie has the best Wong Kar-wai couple of all time: the mute guy and his father. Your date will undoubtedly find this endearing, and you will definitely be getting some. That is, unless she has a problematic parental past. In that case, she’ll be depressed and want to go home right after the movie.

2. In the Mood For Love (2000)

Are you sure you want to show him this movie? It’s one of the best out there, but it will make a grown man cry. Your date may not want to expose this much emotion so soon. It’s so engrossing and troubling that even things like a noodles and pictures of Angkor Wat will reduce him to a blubbering mess.

3. Chungking Express (1994)

Congratulations on stumbling upon the most date-appropriate Wong Kar-wai movie. It’s easy enough to follow, so you can maintain light conversation throughout, but there are still enough cute, visually-stimulating scenes to fill any silences. The ambiguous though happy ending also ensures some heavy petting.

4. Happy Together (1997)

For some couples, this could be their Sid and Nancy if you’re the kind of people that pride themselves on self-destruction. You’ll probably get hot and heavy after this movie, and then go out and break some windows or leave a restaurant without paying. Something like that. I don’t know what you kids do these days.
