3. Texas

I’d never live there again, and I agree that there are a lot of public figures, practices, ideas, historical atrocities, and denim-on-denim combinations there that are simply unacceptable. The food, however, is worth pining over. Did you know it’s normal to order a baked potato there and automatically have it served with chopped brisket sprinkled on top? Plus a lot of my favorite people are from there, and I don’t just mean my nuclear family but my spiritual family as well: Beyonce and Selena.

2. Candles

When I found myself looking for a specific candle on Amazon, I was ashamed of myself, but I kept looking anyway. I told myself I was only buying peppermint candles because it kept mice away, but in my heart of hearts, I really like the smell, too. Then I bought another one at Pier One Imports. I have never stepped foot in that store before. They have an entire section dedicated to wicker. Still, I bought another one. I don’t know how far this will go. I’m scared to find out.

1. Massages

I don’t know what compelled me to get my first massage, considering that I don’t have a physically demanding job or a bad back. But since then, there are few things I enjoy more than an angry Chinese woman pummeling my back with her freakishly strong elbows. The first time they walked on my spine, I thought, This is it. I can’t go back. And I haven’t. According to Wikipedia, tui na and qi gong massages are mostly recommended for infants and the elderly. That actually explains my obsession perfectly.
